Armagnac

Armagnac is a brandy made in Gascony, France, where musketeer d’Artagnan is descended from. Armagnac is mainly prepared by using the same white grapes which are also used for making cognac – Folle Blanci, Ugni Blanci and Colombardi. The wine fermented from grapes is distilled based on column, i.e. Coffey method. The drink with 52% alcohol content received as a result of double distillation will be poured to oak barrel to mature. The peculiarity of armagnac lies in that no water will be added to the distillate, but part of alcohol will evaporate as a result of seasoning in oak barrel which decreases the alcohol content.
