Jura Journey Single Malt
The Isle of Jura is located in the western coast of Scotland between the Isle of Islay. This island has only one road, one pub, one shop, one community and one whisky distillery. The natives of the island are called “Diurachs“ which is their Celtic name. The name of the island originates from the Celtic Diùra, which in its turn is thought to be originating from the Vikings – Old Norse language, meaning the deer – “isle of deer“.
Jura Distillery was founded in 1810, restored in 1963 and up to date the distillery manufactures Single Malt whiskies still referring to the legends of the island. The owner of Jura Distillery is the well-known whisky producer Whyte & Mackay, founded in Glasgow in 1844.
Jura Journey Single Malt whisky has been matured in old American Bourbon casks of white oak.
Characteristics of whisky: Pale amber colour. Ripe citruses, vanilla, subtle hint of honey with light peat smoke can be felt in the aroma. Taste is dry, citrus fruit, pears and apples, anise, dried herbs and orange crust with mild spiciness can be felt.
